PRELIMINARY PHASE

“New dance practices meet each other” in February, March, May.

Franca Ferrari meets the three Italian choreographers Marco D’Agostin, Daniele Ninarello, Davide Valrosso who research for new “body practices” in contemporary dance. The meetings include three joint workshops dedicated to the group of young dancers. The focal point of this incubator is to find out and discover the common characteristic and the differences between the three choreographers. The similarities exist and must be valued and acknowledged to be able to understand the differences in the individual process that leads to diverse creation.

FROM THE SHARING OF PRACTICES TO CREATION

This is the fundamental module of the project and the one to which will be dedicated more and more space every year.

This is where discussion and exchange among professional and aspiring choreographers take place.

This module will see various phases of work: one in which the professional choreographers let the participants experience their practice, others in which participants will be assigned “homework” to be done individually so as to start the journey towards creation (each participant will present their own work at the annual edition of the festival Più che danza, from the first studio to a complete creation in the third year).

This is the module in which it will be crucial to stimulate young artists’ personality to develop; during this process, in fact, the participants will have the chance to present previews of their creative work, and outcomes of their individual research process.

PARTICIPANTS SELECTION

The selection was announced via open call. Application required the sending of the CV with cover letter and a video. Selected candidates were interviewed individually.

The commission composed by Marco D’Agostin, Franca Ferrari, Daniele Ninarello, Davide Valrosso finally chose the 10 aspiring choreographers between 21 and 25 years, on the basis of their CV and motivation for the work on “body practices”.

FESTIVAL PIÚ CHE DANZA

The future choreographers will present their production at each annual edition of the festival.

In Brief studies tutored by Davide Valrosso will be on for 2018.

COMPLEMENTARY STUDIES // CULTURAL MANAGEMENT

Those who undertake this profession need to develop different skills: project management, design, communication and promotion. These in order to achieve the objective of being able to gain visibility, to create interpersonal relationships with cultural operators and audience, to know the basics of fundraising.

SYNERGY AND COMPLEMENTARITY WITH OTHER ARTS

The contemporaneity foresees synergies and continuous encroachments. It is therefore expected that participants get in contact with various forms of art that make their vision complete. In this phase, we will explore subjects such as art, direction, dramaturgy, video and visual art, music, set design and costume design.

FEEDBACK AND MONITORING

There will be a continuous discussion with the professional choreographers and the tutor in the various phases of the journey as well as with the audience and the cultural operators. The work will be followed up through a logbook.

LIGHT DESIGN IN A DANCE SHOW

Light in dance and theatre has an enormous importance. The participants will meet Paolo Casati, technical director of festival Più che danza and light designer, who will illustrate the basics of theatrical lighting technology.
